Site Carpentry Diploma - Level 2 at Sheppey College
This course will provide you with the basic knowledge andunderstanding of what it takes to be a carpenter.You will get hands-on experience including timed buildingtasks, and will be taught carpentry theory in the classroom.
Course will include health and safety inconstruction, basic tool skills and maintenance,setting out joist and stud partitioning, fi xingskirting and architrave, door hanging, fi xinglocks, manufacturing of basic joinery andfunctional skills.
You must have either Level1 Carpentry & Joinery or aFoundation Construction Award,with GCSE passes at grade C toE. Entry is subject to interview,assignment set by tutors andparticipation in a taster day.
Criteria-based course with eight units,knowledge test after each unit and a fi nalmultiple choice test. Practical skills are assessedthrough 25 projects plus one 18-hour timedtask.
You will be required to wear overalls and strongfootwear.
You can progress onto Level3 courses at out Swale andCanterbury Campuses or intoemployment.
