English Literature at The Brunts Academy

Course description

This is an exciting and enriching course which is designed for students to explore the reading process and find enjoyment in literary texts.

Students will have the opportunity to analyse and interpret a range of literary texts from across the centuries. The focus is on students’ individual perceptions and their ability to express this in a coherent and sophisticated manner.

The A2 coursework element allows personal interests to be developed and involves a significant amount of independent working. Students will have to collate sources and compare texts, investigating an aspect of their choice.

Entry requirements

Students will need to have a love of reading and be critical and analytical thinkers.

They also need to achieve a minimum of a grade B in GCSE English and English Literature.

If students did not do GCSE English Literature than they cannot do this course at AS/A2.
