Business Extended Diploma Level 3 at Canterbury College Not
This two year study programme will provide you with a thorough grounding in business related skills as well as preparing you for university if that is your chosen route.
You will learn about different business organisations and how they communicate with their customers. You will also study about business ethics and the importance this has in the real world. We live in a world of increasing globalisation and so you will learn how businesses operate in an international environment and how they use the internet to promote their products and services.
In order for business organisations to be successful they have to monitor their accounts to make sure they are profitable and hence you will learn how to analyse the finances of businesses. As part of the study programme you will also learn how organisations recruit their employees.
Five GCSEs at grade C and above (including English and Maths).
Our level 3 students complete one week of work experience at a business of their choice. Some of the organisations they have completed work experience at are ASOS, McDonalds, Barclays, Dover Castle and Ralph Lauren. This experience provides a real life environment where students can actively participate in a broad range of business activities equipping them with the skills they need to secure a job.
You will be continually assessed during and at the end of each unit you undertake. Your feedback will be both verbal and written, ensuring that you have the necessary guidance to complete the study programme with the best qualification grade. All tutors are practising industry professionals.
If you successfully complete the L3 study programme you could progress onto a university degree at college or at any UK university. Each year approximately half our students go on to university. The other half progress onto an Apprenticeship in Business Administration or Customer Service or jobs in a business related organisation.
You will spend up to three days a week in College and must also be prepared to undertake independent study to support your tutor-guided lessons. Each year we run a number of enrichment trips to different businesses. There are also opportunities to participate in European residential visits. The costs for these trips are additional and must be met by students if they wish to attend.
