Plastering Level 3 at Craven College

Course description

A step up from Level 2, build up the essential skills and knowledge you need to go out into the plastering industry.

Turn existing skills into experience in our brand new industry standard facilities and work towards becoming a master craftsman within the plastering trade with the skills to apply different external finishes under your belt.
 
As a plastering student, you will have access to bespoke bays for solid plastering and plaster boarding along with a serpentine wall for Level 3 plastering students and a fibrous workshop for architectural plasterwork.
 
Our tutors are specialist craftspeople and have many year's experience in the construction industry in both large and small businesses with specialisms in heritage and conservation work. You will have the opportunity to enter the prestigous CITB Skill Build competition. All tools, equipment and materials are provided.

Course content

  • Apply different external finishes inc. pebble dashing, Tyrolean work, k rend & ashlar
  • Apply solid plaster to curved surfaces
  • Arches & circular work
  • CAD programmes
  • Construction industry regulations
  • Fibrous plaster work inc. moulds in-situ & casting curves
  • How buildings are constructed & energy saving
  • Supervisory/management skills
  • Planning & programming work activities
  • Read, interpret & price work from drawings
  • Safe working practices
  • Sustainability in construction
  • Technical drawing & producing drawings by hand
  • Theory of plastering

Entry requirements

Plastering Level 2 (Merit/Distinction) including English & maths GCSEs 9-4 (A*-C)

Assessment

Written and practical assessment.
