Painting and Decorating Construction Diploma - Level 1 at Vision West Nottinghamshire College
In this introductory course you will develop the practical skills needed for a career in painting and decorating. You will study the basics from preparing surfaces through to applying specialist decorations.
The course content will cover building materials, building methods and construction technology, preparing surfaces for decoration, applying specialist decorations and carrying out safe working practices.
- GCSEs with at least 3 points (grade D) in maths and English or an equivalent plus an eptitude test OR
- The Entry Level Diploma in Constructions Skills.
- Consideration will be given to 19+ learners who may not have formal qualifications but industry experience.
You will need to attend an interview with the tutor before being accepted on to the course. You may also need to supply at least one written reference from a teacher or employer (in some cases two) and/or your current school or college report.
Mature students (those aged 21 or over) who do not have the qualifications required for entry may still be eligible, subject to an interview. Relevant experience, a strong portfolio of work and a commitment to the subject you wish to study may be acceptable for certain courses.
You will be assessed by:
- Practical assessment
- Theory tests
- Online test
- Health and safety test.
Upon completion of the course, you can progress to the Level 2 Construction Diploma or NVQ Level 2 if you have a relevant work placement.
