Hairdressing NVQ Level 3 Diploma at Saint Benedict, A Catholic Voluntary Academy

Course description

This full-time Level 3 course builds on the existing knowledge gained during Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing and will develop further your technical skills to an advanced level, combining both theory and practical knowledge. This course also touches on the aspects of running a commercial salon. A Hairdressing NVQ gives you the techniques and experience to start your career in the hair industry, working on both male and female clients.

Course content

A compulsory element of this course is for the learner to find a work placement in a salon once a week, also working on a column in Captivation Salon during late evenings on a Wednesday or Thursday and Saturdays.

Entry requirements

All Level 3 students must have 5 separate GCSE passes (A*-C), including English Language and Maths.  

NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing.  Students must be willing to find a work placement and to work additional hours in the Captivation Salon.

Future opportunities

On completion of this course there is a possibility of progressing on to a Foundation Degree (Level 4) in Salon Management or to pursue a career as a Hairdressing Technician, Lecturer, Assessor (City & Guilds A1), External Verifier (City & Guilds V1), Journalist or as a Senior Stylist in a Salon.
