Applied Business at The Joseph Rowntree School

Course description

The course provides an insight into the most important aspects of business and will help you develop the practical skills essential in the business world such as presentation, investigation, report writing and ICT skills. The course is assessed differently to a traditional A level.

AS Units:

Unit 1: Investigating Business
Unit 2: People in Business
Unit 3: Financial Planning and Monitoring

A2 Units:

Unit 4: Managing People
Unit 5: Business Planning
Unit 6: Promotional Activities

This will involve a work placement to engage with local employers in areas associated to this course and will help to develop your practical understanding of the subject. According to your specific interest you will be allocated to a placement which will give you valued experience when applying to university or an Apprenticeship.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSE grades A*-C is required and you do not need to have taken GCSE Business Studies.
