English Language A Level at St Gregory the Great Catholic School
There are four units in A Level English Language, 2 are studied each year. Students learn how to categorise, create, develop and investigate language from the past to the present day. A mix of coursework and exams help develop students’ skills as producers and interpreters of language.
Students and teachers like the variety and breadth of relevant topics covered in this specification. The balance of theory and data helps students understand the concepts and background of language and allows them to apply their understanding in real-life situations.
This course is suitable for a wide ability range. The practical aspects of dealing with unseen texts and understanding the visual/social aspects of language/media, help develop skills useful in a variety of disciplines.
A minimum of six A*-C GCSE passes, preferably including a B in this subject.
