Art and Design (Photography) - BTEC Level 3 at Middlesbrough College

Course description

This course is designed for people who are interested in a career in photography and related disciplines. Throughout your course you will develop a broad range of creative skills alongside specialist photography skills. Skills you will develop include: Drawing, painting and other mark making Exploring the uses of media and techniques Developing concept work Generating and presenting work to an audience Study of Art and Design Practice Image Manipulation and editing Printmaking Graphic design Experimental Photography Studio Photography Location photography Fashion photography Product photography Portrait photography You will undertake skills building & assignments which will be a mixture of real life briefs and self-devised projects. The specialist units will be underpinned by a solid grounding in basic Art & Design skills with opportunities to work with a broad range of students in other creative disciplines on collaborative projects. Subsidiary Diploma, 90 Credit Diploma and Extended Diploma routes are available.

Entry requirements

Four GCSE’s including English and/or Maths at grade C or above or successful completion of Level 2 Art & Design or Media related course. All applicants must be able to show a portfolio or examples of their work at an interview. "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."

Assessment

Continuous Assessment via assignments and projects, observations of practical work, with a final self-directed major project in the second year.
