Business OCR Technical Diploma - Level 3 at Broadgreen International School

Year 1 - Six units will be studied which includes topics such as marketing, communication and finance.
Year 2 - A further six units will be studied which include topics such as international business, e-business and business law.
Lessons: 10 x 1 hour
This course provides students with a broad introduction to the business sector and encourages students to develop skills, knowledge and understanding in realistic business contexts, such as discovering the problems and opportunities faced by local and national businesses.
The Level 3 qualification in Business equips students for a range of career opportunities as well as preparing students for further study in higher education.
To achieve this qualification, students must complete a total of 12 units consisting of four mandatory units and eight optional units. These twelve units will be equally sized and equally weighted. The twelve units will be delivered in 10 lessons a week over a period of two academic years; six units in Year 12 and six units in year 13.
The following six units are expected to be studied during Year 1:
• Investigating Business
• Customer Service
• Business Communications
• Finance for Business
• Marketing for business
The following six units are expected to be studied during Year 2:
• Law in the Business World
• Working in International Business
• Human Resource Management
• Training and Development
• Employee relations
On completion of unit assignments each unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction. In addition, the full award will have an overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction depending on the students’ achievements at unit level.
GCSE grades at ‘C’ or above in Maths and English.
Students should be prepared to undertake individual research and ICT skills would be an advantage.
The Level 3 Business diploma provides a good ground in many subject areas and provides a breadth which enables students to go on to a range of degree courses including Marketing, Public Relations, Accountancy, Law and Management. The skills that you will develop whilst studying Business such as communication skills, problem solving, teamwork and research are highly regarded by universities and employers. Many of our students enjoy the subject so much they want to read it at university. Many of last year's Business Studies students went on to a variety of courses including Business and Management at Liverpool University, Liverpool Hope University and John Moores University
