Accounting and Business Level 2 Diploma at College of North West London (FE)

Course description

This course is suitable for you if you are looking to expand both your accounting and business skills. It will help you learn a breadth of skills to support you with future study or work. It will offer you the opportunity to gain the skills demanded by employers, while achieving a nationally recognised qualification that could ultimately lead to the full AAT Accounting Qualification.

Course content

The course is made up of ten mandatory units including: 1) Processing bookkeeping transactions 2) Control accounts, journals and the banking system 3) Basic Costing 4) Working effectively in accounting and finance 5) Computerised Accounting 6) Applied Business Communications and Personal Skills 7) Spreadsheet Software 8) Developing Study Skills 9) Introduction to Payroll Systems 10)Computerised Payroll Skills

Entry requirements

You will need English and Maths skills at Level 1; GCSE English and Maths is preferable. If you do not have evidence of your English and Maths levels you will be given an online English and Maths assessment after you submit your application. You may also be asked to complete a piece of free writing or a vocational assessment. If you meet the entry requirements you will then be offered an interview with a tutor to discuss the course.

Assessment

You will be assessed through a mixture of computer based exams and projects.You must pass all ten units to be awarded the certificate.

 

Future opportunities

Successful students can progress to a Level 3 course in Accounting or Business. You will also be able to apply for entry-level jobs or apprenticeships in a business admin or finance setting.
