Travel and Tourism BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate at Haverstock School

Course description

This is an11 unit course where you will gain an understanding of travel & tourism and the part it plays in society. It investigates how the travel & tourism industry meets the needs of their customers. You will have an opportunity to apply learning in a practical and realistic way.

Course content

Three compulsory units
International travel and tourism destinations
The UK travel and tourism sector
UK travel & tourism destinations

8 Optional Units – for example:
Promotion and sales in travel and tourism
The development of the travel and tourism industry in the UK
European holiday destinations

Entry requirements

6+GCSES graded G+

Assessment

Over this year of study you will have mini assignments and core assignments to aid your learning. The BTEC is a portfolio based qualification, so the units you see above will be assessed using your written work. However, there are also two external exams as part of the course.

Future opportunities

This programme of study enables you to prgoress on to level 3 courses such as level 3 business, A levels or level 3 travel & tourism. You can also progress on to employment in the tourist industry.
