Laundry Apprenticeship (Intermediate Level 2) at Blackburn College

Course description

You could train as a Laundry Assistant who is responsible for cleaning items, such as bedding, restaurant and hospital linen, towels, chefs wear, dust mats and specialist work wear. You could work in private professional cleaners or in a public sector organisation such as the NHS.

To undertake an Apprenticeship in Laundry you must be committed and have the determination and motivation to succeed.

Course content

Selection of units from the Laundry Intermediate Apprenticeship:

  • Carry out the washing process
  • Process flat work through calenders
  • Quality standards of the textile care service
  • Finishing processes within the textile care service.

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements, however if you need to develop your skills, as part of the qualification you will obtain Functional Skills in Englishand Maths.

Assessment

You will be assessed in one or more of the following ways:

  • Course work
  • Observations
  • Oral questioning
  • Electronic portfolio of evidence
  • Practical demonstration/assignment.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, natural progression would be to a higher level course or promotion within your employment to give you a broader range and quality of skills and understanding of the industry and its requirements.
