Hairdressing Apprenticeship Level 3 at Malvern Hills College

Course description

This Apprenticeship is designed for those in full time employment in a hairdressing salon who already have a Level 2 hairdressing qualification and who wish to progress to complete their hairdressing qualification.

Course content

What’s involved?

Subjects covered during the programme will include: advanced hairdressing skills - cutting, perming and colouring; styling hair and various long hair up techniques; possibility of competition work; retail sales; management and team work, and a Functional Skill in English or Maths as necessary.

How will I be studying?

You will be working at your place of employment and you will be required to attend College for day release or for short workshops.

Entry requirements

You must have a Level 2 hairdressing qualification and currently be employed in a hairdressing salon.  You will need to demonstrate a good level of English and effective communication skills.

All applicants will need to have a successful interview.


The scheme is work based and involves proving practical competence through regular visits and assessments by an appointed Assessor.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the programme you will achieve a Level 3 NVQ in Hairdressing.  Once qualified you can progress on to become a Salon Manager or choose to become self-employed.
