Business Studies (Level 2) at New College Swindon
This course gives you a wide-ranging knowledge and understanding of different aspects of business including marketing, finance and customer services, as well as the practical skills needed to help you gain employment.
The main units of study for this course are:-

- Financial Forecasting
- Verbal and non-verbal Communication
- The Marketing Plan
- Customer Relations in Business
- Business Online
You will need at least four GCSE grade D’s including English Language and Maths. There is a Level 1 provision, should you not meet these requirements.
You should have enthusiasm for researching new topics, an enquiring mind and be willing to work with others. In addition, you need to be able to take responsibility for your own learning and development, both at college and whilst out on work experience. Commitment to the course and a mature outlook are essential.
You will be assessed on a regular basis and will need to complete a portfolio of assignments. There will also be an external exam.
The Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Business course is a practical course that helps you to develop the general skills, knowledge and understanding required to gain and maintain employment. The skills that you will develop on this course are recognised by potential employers and a part of the course will be spent off site in a work experience placement. This part of the course is compulsory.
The qualification can be achieved at Certificate, Extended Certificate and Diploma level and the full Diploma can lead you on to AS/A level in Business Studies. There may be the option to continue studying into a second year if the full Diploma is not achieved in year 1. This will be at the discretion of the Course Leader. The qualification is also designed to help you find employment in a wide range of businesses.
