Photography at Hemsworth Arts and Community Academy
Photography is a popular subject at A Level, with many students attracted to the combination of technical instruction and creative freedom it offers whether you're interested in digital photography, traditional SLR work or film-making, you'll receive expert support and tuition.
The most important requirements is a genuine interest in photography. Photography is not an easy option and you must work hard to develop your abilities and your understanding of the subject.
You will be introduced to a variety of photographic media techniques and processes. You will:-
- Explore, line, form, pattern and texture in the context of photography.
- Respond to issues, theories and concepts.
- Appreciate viewpoint, composition, depth of field and movement.
- Learn the various uses of camera, film, lenses, filters and lighting.
- Understand techniques related to the developing and printing of photographic images.
No formal Art or Photography qualifications are required but you must have 5 A* - C grades at GCSE.(or the new Grades 4 - 9) and a strong interest in the subject
Portfolio: a collection of coursework carried out during the Course
Externally set assignment (Exam)
You will incur some costs for materials including sketchbooks. These are estimated to be about 20 over the first year. You will also be required to have a SD memory card of at least 1GB. Loan cameras are available. Anyone with genuine financial concerns should contact Mr Kelly in the Academy
