PE at South Nottinghamshire Academy

Course description

In the A/S PE course pupils will undertake 3 theory modules as well as two practical aspects of sport. Pupils will be assessed in two sports from the activity lists available either as a performer, a coach or an official. The 3 theory modules will cover Anatomy and Physiology, Acquiring Movement Skills and Socio-Cultural issues. These will carry 60% weighting for the year and 30% weighting of the overall A-Level course. There will be a 2hr written exam at the end of May in the first year. Pupils will also undertake an ‘EPIP’ test (Evaluate, Plan, Improvement, Performance), where they will have to evaluate and plan for the improvement of an athlete’s performance. This carries 10% of the year’s marks and 20% of the final A-Level grade.
