Course description

This Music Technology qualification is designed for those interested in developing their skills in the areas of music production, recording techniques and DJ performance techniques. Academic skills such as reading, writing and ILT skills will also be developed throughout the duration of the program allowing learners to progress into the industry or progress onto the BTEC Level 3 in Music Technology. The qualification explores the types of employment available within the industry. Learners will also develop employability skills required when working professionally within the music industry. The course is both practical and theory based, which offers a wide range of modules such as: The Music Industry Managing a Music Product Professional Skills in Music Music and Production Analysis Music Showcase Researching a Music Project Introducing Music Recording Introducing Music Sequencing Developing Music Composition Producing a Music Recording Exploring DJing Developing Modern Music Production Skills

Entry requirements

To gain entry to this course you must possess four or more GCSE's at Grade E or above to include a minimum of a Grade D in English (or an equivalent qualification) or other equivalent qualifications acceptable to the College. You must also undertake a successful interview and provide a satisfactory reference. "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."


Continuous practical assessment, tutor observation and written assignments.

Future opportunities

This course provides learners with the necessary skills, experience and qualification for progression to Level 3 Music Technology program or direct route into the music industry.
