Sport BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate at The Dukeries Academy

Course description

A course that involves both practical and theoretical aspects of Sport that will get you a qualification that could be used as part of a package that could take you onto any course at College or University.

Entry requirements

GCSE P.E. grade C or a Merit at BTEC Sports Studies. 5 A*-C grades at GCSE (including English and Maths). You will also need to have a keen interest in sport, be someone who plays sport in their spare time and who has shown an interest in sport throughout their school life.

Assessment

Your work will be assessed through a combination of External exams, External Tasks and assignments.

Unit 1 Anatomy and Physiology

Written Exam worth 33% of the award

Unit 2 Fitness training Programme

Written Task worth 33% of the award (this has preparation time)

Unit 3 The Sports Industry

4 assignments worth 17% of the award

Unit 4 Application of Fitness Testing

4 assignments worth 17% of the award

All assignments are set by your teacher and then assessed by an external verifier.

Future opportunities

This could lead onto a sports related degree course. Future jobs may include Fitness Advisor, Personal Trainer, Sports Community Coach, Leisure Centre Manager, Sports Development Officer, Armed Forces Officer, Sports Psychologist Physiotherapy, or a PE Teacher.
