Performing Arts (Acting) BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate at Strode's College

Course description

This course offers a specialist qualification with a vocational emphasis. You must enjoy performing if you choose this course. You gain an understanding of the industry and how to access employment by developing a range of skills and attributes. This is a fully practical course with a requirement to record every lesson in detail to supplement your coursework. It is acting training; looking at the leading practitioners in naturalism, political theatre, film and TV screen work, physical theatre and Children’s theatre. There are regular theatre visits and public performances throughout the course.

Course content

This is an ideal course to understand and practically explore a range of practitioners and styles for stage. You will experiment, control and develop your vocal and physical skills in rehearsal and in performance to an audience.

Entry requirements

General entry requirements for a Level 3 Pathway plus a grade C in English Language or Maths GCSE plus a grade C in Drama or Expressive Arts GCSE or a Merit in Level 2 Performing Arts BTEC or equivalent.


100% internally-assessed coursework, including practical performance assessment.

Future opportunities

The course equips you with the skills, knowledge and understanding required for a range of job roles in the Performing Arts Industry. It supports progression in conservatoire training.
