Introduction to Early Years Education Certificate Level 2 at The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London

Course description

This Level 2 qualification will help to prepare you for work in an Early Years setting. The units cover a wide range of topics including children’s development, health and safety, safeguarding and working with children.   You will have the opportunity to take functional skills qualifications in English and ICT. The course requires you to complete 200 hours in a work placement, organised by the College. You will attend one day a week in a placement and there will be a weeklong block placement.

Group activities, discussions, written assignments and practical activities.

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade D-G or the equivalent Level 1 qualifications at Pass grade, to come to an interview, pass an assessment and have a good reference. If you are coming from school or another College, you will need an 87% attendance record. Criminal Record Bureau CRM/DBS checks are required.

Assessment

You will complete a minimum of 200 hours practical training in a range of childcare settings where your work - based practice is observed.

Future opportunities

If you complete successfully, you can apply for the CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Children’s and Young People's Workforce.
