Art And Design - A Level (Aqa) at The Cotswold Academy

Course description

About the syllabus:

Art has never been more relevant. Employment in creative industries has grown at double the rate of the UK economy and the sector continues to be an important growth area for the future.

Many of our students have gone on to prestigious art foundation, degree and postgraduate level courses at world renowned schools, such as Central St Martins College and the Slade School of Art, studying Fine Art, Photography, Illustration, History of Art, Graphic Art, Architecture and Fashion. They have then gone on to take their places in the creative sector.

Tutorial style lessons have an informal but purposeful atmosphere, very similar to an art college environment. You will be encouraged to follow your own interests – whether that be in painting, drawing, photography, film, printmaking, sculpture or mixed media – and supported in your learning journey with one-to-one guidance.

Our students benefit from designated A Level studios in which each student has their own workspace and the freedom to come and go in free periods to create additional work.

In addition to Art we offer an in-house enrichment course in Photography and History of Art may also be available. Close engagement with artists is an essential part of the course and our students benefit a great deal from our annual art trips and visiting artists.
