Course description

With an ever changing world, continuing to study Science in the Sixth form will help students to understand and respond to this innovation.
In Science we achieve good exam results, where students have achieve the top grades.
With our guidance, and variety of courses on offer, the department will help students achieve the best possible grades.
Physics deals with questions about the fundamental nature of our Universe.
What is it made from?
How do matter and energy behave within it?
How can we harness both to our greatest advantage?
The application of physics principles can be used to help solve some of the most pressing problems of our time such as how we can meet the ever increasing demand for energy in an environmentally friendly way.
As well as being a fascinating and stimulating subject, Physics will be at the core of future technological developments.
Physics explores and tries to understand the underlying patterns and connections between it all.
During the course we will explore some of the fundamentals of Physics alongside more recent developments in the subject.
The logical and mathematical skills in physics are relevant to a vast number of careers.
It is beneficial to any further scientific work with applications in business, finance and medicine.

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements:
5 A*-C GCSE including English Grade C, Maths and Higher Tier Additional Science or Physics GCSE Grade B

Also on offer is an array of sporting activities including volleyball and orienteering or, if you prefer, you could become involved in volunteering with Local Government community projects. Through our Citizenship programme you will be given the option to develop an understanding of a variety of life issues around the community and the world in general.
