ICT BTEC National Certificate, Supplementary Diploma and Diploma Level 3 at The Arnewood School

Course description

Advance the skills you gained in Year 12 into an extended qualification which will enable you to move from Key Stage 5 into higher education or the work place. You will become an end user of ICT tools and apply them to real life problems; you will improve your understanding of ICT tools and their application in a range of scenarios.

Course content

  • Option 1: For students who successfully completed the Level 2 BTEC ICT Diploma, the opportunity to take a Level 3 BTEC National Certificate in ICT. The course will be similar to the work completed in Year 12 in that you will complete a number of units of coursework over the year, with each unit gaining points towards an overall grade. The course is equal to one AS level qualification.
  • Option 2: For student who successfully completed the Level 3 BTEC National Certificate in ICT the opportunity to top up their Certificate qualification to a Level 3 BTEC National supplementary Diploma in ICT. The course will be similar to the work completed Year 12 in that you will complete a number of units of coursework over the year, with each unit gaining points towards an overall grade. The course is equal to one A level qualification.
  • Option 3: For student who successfully completed the Level 3 BTEC National Supplementary Diploma in ICT the opportunity to top up their Supplementary Diploma qualification to a full Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in ICT. The course will be similar to the work completed Year 12 in that you will complete a number of units of coursework over the year, with each unit gaining points towards an overall grade. The course is equal to two A level qualification.

Entry requirements

The minimum entry requirement is a Pass grade at your chosen level in Year 12.

Assessment

All options are 100% coursework based with controlled assessment.
All units of work for each option are equally weighted

Future opportunities

ICT develops a range of skills and approaches. The skills gained are cross curricular and support subjects in a number of different areas. As a result there are a wide range of career opportunities open to students, including Accountant, Civil Service, Teacher, Web design, Systems analysis, Computer design, Construction, Software design and Graphics
