Fish Management, Technical Qualification, Level 3 at Hadlow College

Course description

This course is designed to give students the practical and theoretical knowledge required for employment in the aquaculture or fisheries management sector in a middle management role or those that wish to progress onto a higher education qualification in aquaculture and fisheries or another science based degree.

  • Investigative project
  • Functional skills/GCSE - English and maths

Entry requirements

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs grades A*-C / 9-4 or equivalent (Level 2 Diploma), which must include GCSEs in English AND maths A*-C / 9-4 Grade.

For those students who achieve four GCSEs A*-C/9-4, there is the option of a 90 credit Diploma. Achievement of this at Merit or Distinction will allow progression onto the second year.


Assessment is through a range of styles including practical assessments, photographic and video evidence logs, workbooks and written assignments. Duties will also be carried out maintaining the college fisheries facilities where students will develop their knowledge alongside their practical skills.

Future opportunities

Completion of this qualification will allow you to progress into a Apprenticeship or a higher
qualification including FdSc/ BSc (Hons) Aquaculture and Fisheries Management at Hadlow College.
