Music - Level Three Extended Diploma Music Performance at Calderdale College

Course description

A two year course that explores music performance, theory & composition. The course is intended to develop potential learners music performance and creativity skills whilst offering a broad insight into potential employment opportunities within the music industry.

Course content

Teaching mainly facilitates the practical workshops in the studio & rehearsal rooms but there are theoretical lectures to support this.

Entry requirements

The BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Music is an advanced course and is suitable suitable for those with at least 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C or a relevant level 2 qualification such as BTEC First Diploma, GNVQ Intermediate, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent/relevant work experience. Candidates should be computer literate and play at least one musical instrument. Candidates are encouraged to consider taking up a secondary instrument/vocals whilst on the course in order to maximise development and enhance your learning experience. Instrument & vocal tutoring will be provided as part of the course programme.

Learners need to perform a piece of music on their chosen instrument at an audition.

Financial information

In most cases students aged 18 and under who wish to enrol on a full time further education course will have their fees waived.  Students who are aged 19 and over and who wish to enrol on a full time course should contact our Student Services Team on 01422-399367 for more information.

Future opportunities

BTEC Level 3 Diplomas are valued  by employers and Higher Education.  Learners can go onto do a degree  or a HND in subjects such as music,  popular music, and music technology or music production. Employment  opportunities include working in the  music industry as a sound engineer  (studio and live performance).
