Beauty Therapy C&G Level 2 Diploma at Northampton College

Course description

This course covers a wide range of beauty therapy treatments concentrating on the face, hands and feet. The method of learning is by a mixture of both practical and theory sessions. Your course may include one late evening per week. The practical and theoretical aspects you will study include: - Manicure/Pedicure - Facials for Men and Women - Make-up - Waxing - Threading - Eye Treatments - Working in Industry - Anatomy and Physiology - Retail and Reception - Client Care and Communication - Health and Safety

Course content

This 1 year course is for students who wish to gain entry to a Level 3 qualification or employment.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at Grade D or above or an appropriate Level 1 qualification. Relevant experience may be considered.

Assessment

Through practical assessments, oral questionning, assignments and online and written exams. You will need to produce assignments to a deadline. A portfolio of work is also required as supporting evidence. All assignments will be Word processed and submitted online. Personal appearance is part of the awarding body's criteria. You will be expected to adhere to a strict dress code: no jewellery, long hair tied back, short un-varnished nails and a specified uniform to be worn.

Future opportunities

After successful completion of this course you could progress to VRQ Level 3 Beauty Therapy or Nail Technology; Hairdressing VRQ Level 2; or Diploma in Complementary Therapies. Alternatively, you may choose to seek employment in a beauty salon or work as a freelance therapist.

Students aged 19 and over by September 1st will be required to pay a registration fee of approximately £95 at enrolment. Students will be required to purchase the following prior to enrolment:- Beauty Therapy Kit - approximately £200- Text Books - approximately £30- Uniform - approximately £55To enhance this course we arrange trips to trade shows and offer extra optional courses, which will incur additional costs.
