AAT is the UK’s leading qualification and professional body for accounting and finance staff. This foundation level qualification is internationally recognised and you will learn key skills which are valuable to all businesses. Classes will include lectures supported by hand-outs, tutor demonstration and worked examples. This is followed by students working practical examples to apply new techniques and practices.

The units include processing bookkeeping transactions, control accounts, journals and the banking system, basic costing, working effectively in accounting and finance and the use of SAGE software to process accounting information.

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for those starting a career in accounting.  You should have four GCSEs at grade A*-D, including English, but please speak to the course tutor for guidance.

Assessment

The units are assessed by a mixture of AAT computer based exams and tutor assessments throughout the year.

Future opportunities

AAT is an internationally recognised qualification which is sought after by employers.  Typical job opportunities include finance assistant, assistant accountant, purchase or sales ledger clerk and credit controller.  This course is also useful for anyone starting to run their own business and doing their own books.
