BTEC Level 3: Public Services at JC6: Hinckley Academy and John Cleveland Sixth Form Centre
Public Services gives learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques essential for successful performance in working life, such as leadership and teamwork, confidence, independent research skills and the abilty to work to deadlines.
The course is assessed through a range of assignments, not examinations. Units studied include Leadership and Teamwork; Physical Preparation, Health and Lifestyle; Crime and its Effects on Society; Policies and the Public Services; Citizenship and Diversity.
The course can be studied as a single (one subject) or double (two subject) option.

Public Services works well with other vocational BTEC courses such as Sport, Business and Health and Social Care, as well as A level courses in humanities and social science subjects such as Law and Sociology.
It is a suitable course for all learners, and particularly those that are interested in gaining employment in public sector roles, in the emergency services, armed services and the NHS. It can lead directly to employment or to university.
