Course description

Our Level 3 Hairdressing course has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills to an advanced level.

Expect to learn a variety of techniques, such as:

  • the creative art of cutting hair
  • the artistic skill of colouring
  • the art of styling and dressing hair

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your practical skills to an advanced level of ability, enabling you to perform your own salon services as well as support others. This is a professional level qualification which is recognised within the industry, it will allow you to progress onto employment.

If you have not achieved Maths and English GCSE, then these subjects will form part of this qualification.

Course content

Examples of units you may study on this programme are:

  • Hairdressing consultation support for colleagues
  • Colour hair to create a variety of looks
  • Cut hair to create a variety of looks
  • Style and dress hair using a variety of techniques
  • Promote and sell products and services to clients
  • Hair colour correction
  • Creative hairdressing design skills correction
  • English, Maths and ICT

You will learn through a variety of methods on this course, including; online study; practical practice sessions; live commercial sessions with clients; theory based sessions; self-directed study and work experience.

Entry requirements

You will need the previous qualification of Level 2 Hairdressing Diploma and a minimum of 4 GCSEs, grade A – C.

You will also need a desire and passion to become a creative hairstylist. Be prepared for an interview to determine your skillset.

Assessment

You will be assessed by a final practical synoptic exam, final theoretical examinations and a review of your portfolio to showcase your skills in preparation for employment.

Future opportunities

After successful completion of the this course, you will be able to progress onto our Level 4 Salon Management course or undertake other vocationally related pathways that will enhance your professional skillset.

You could also consider university or alternatively seek employment.
