Science (Applied) A-Level Double Award at Kenton School

Course description

This course is worth 2 A Levels. To do the double award, all the units in the Single Award AppliedScience are covered. There are a further three unitsto make up the AS qualification (7-9 below) and afurther three to convert into the second A Level.

Entry requirements

5 C grades at GSCE including English, Maths andScience/Pass in National Certificate.

Assessment

Syllabus/Exam Board/Level

Applied Science/OCR/AS and A2

The first six units are examined as per the Single Award A Level. The additional six units are examined in the same way. 66% of the course is examined by portfolio assesment. 33% is examined by written examination.

Future opportunities

The course counts as a Science A Level to continue study in higher education either in a Science related Degree course or to compliment other non-Science A Levels.
