BTEC Music Level 3 at Kingsmead School
Why should I study Music?
BTEC Music is a performance based subject. If you enjoy performing on any instrument/ voice and want to develop your practical skills through a range of projects, this would be a good choice for you. If you have a vocational interest in the music industry, e.g. sound recording, studio/ session work etc., you would benefit from the diverse range of topics.
What skills can I gain from studying Music?
Throughout the course you will study 6 units across the two years. Units range from recording and performing to developing composition skills and undertaking research into the music industry.
National data suggest students will have achieved 4 GCSE A*- C grades. Discussion with delivery course staff will ensure compatibility and the level of practical musicianship skills required to complete the course.
The course is designed to fully prepare students for a career in the music industry, sound recording and studio work, and is a natural pathway for Popular Music Degrees. You may however have a love for music and/or performing and wish to study it alongside your other A Level subjects.
