Construction Crafts Diploma Level 1 at Furness College
Learn the practical skills, technical knowledge, Health & Safety training and current legislation and practices that the industry demands in one of the following: Painting & Decorating, Brickwork, Carpentry & Joinery, Plastering or Domestic Electrical. For two years running two of our apprentices have reached the national UK Skills finals in Carpentry & Joinery which has involved them in competition against other construction students from FE colleges across the UK.
This full-time programme is for those wishing to acquire an understanding of the construction industry, combined with practical skills, before taking up employment as a craftsperson in the industry. The programme includes a Level 1 qualification in an appropriate
Every full-time course will include a real experience of work.
Maths and English form part of this course and will be assessed at the relevant levels.
You will need two GCSEs at grades D - G (including maths and English). Placement on the course is by interview and aptitude/skills test.
You will be assessed continually throughout the year on practical work by observation and building a portfolio of evidence and by synoptic assessment at the end of the year.
Theory work is assessed in both Construction and Key Skills by the use of multiple-choice exams throughout the year and at the end of the year. You will also undertake a core assignment which is assessed throughout the year.
You will need boots, overalls, stationery and drawing equipment.
An Apprenticeship within the construction industry or a Level 2 Diploma. Progression is based on aptitude and a successful interviewr.
