History at Trinity Academy
Below you will find some information regarding the A-Level History course. Please note that there are some entry requirements for this course.
This A-Level is designed to develop your understand of change over short and long periods of time. This course involves a mixture of written coursework and exams and you will cover the following:
Unit 1 is a written paper lasting one hour fifteen minutes focussing on British History from 1906 to 51.
Unit 2 is a written paper lasting one hour thirty minutes focussing on Russian History from 1924 to 41.
Unit 3 assesses change and continuity over time and extends the AS British course up to 2007. This is an examined unit.
Unit 4 is Historical enquiry. This unit involves a piece of coursework where you will undertake analysis of a historical issue looking at change over the past 100 years. The focus will be German history.
Students wishing to undertake this course are required to hold five A* - C GCSE grades including Maths and English. Students will ideally have studied History at GCSE.
History is a fascinating subject, and throughout this A-Level you will look at changes and developments that have influenced the world we live in today. During the second year there is a stronger focus on the role of the state in the lives of people, and
the forces that influence it.
You will look at the diversity in British, European and world history. This course does involve a high level of writing, and as such you should have strong English skills. You will be supported to develop your debating and questioning skills, and this
A-Level is a requirement for many university courses such as Law.
