Biology A2 Level at East Berkshire College

Course description

This course builds on the AS year of the AQA syllabus and leads to the full A Level qualification.

It comprises three more units of the syllabus and the results of these units are combined with the AS units to yield a final grade.

Course content

The syllabus develops an understanding of the important physiological processes such as homeostasis.

Inheritance variation and selection in the context of evolution are considered along with the dynamics of ecosystems and the environment.


Entry requirements

A grade D or above pass at AQA AS level Biology is required.


There is coursework assessment based on the application of practical skills and part of the final assessment includes synoptic questions covering all the AS and A2 units.

Future opportunities

Students may seek employment in the field or may apply to university to study biology further or to support an application in some other area.
