A Level - Government & Politics at Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy
This is a subject for people interested in current affairs and a good argument. The skills learnt at this level are desired by universities and employers alike. It compliments the study of History at AS/A Level as well as other subjects, if you are thinking about a career in law, politics, civil service, sociology, psychology, journalism, TV, radio, research, marketing and PR to name but a few.
You will meet and question your MP and potentially visit the Houses of Parliament. You will look at the systems and institutions that governs our everyday lives, the way we vote and the issues and debates surrounding voting and how the political parties and pressure groups work not just in the UK but also the USA.
You will really be able to get to grips with the society you live in, make up your own mind and have some great debates along the way!
5 A*-C GCSEs including English Language/Literature and B in Maths. All students must have achieved a grade C in either History or English at GCSE.
