Professional Cookery NVQ 3 Diploma at Northumberland College
This course will develop your practical skills and knowledge for a career as a chef in the catering industry. The programme of study is designed for skilled crafts people working in the hospitality and catering industry, wishing to gain an advanced qualification to enhance their career prospects
You will study an advanced level of cooking soups, sauces, meats, poultry, vegetables, rice, pasta and hot and cold desserts. Ideal if you want to develop your existing catering skills to a higher level.
You should have four GCSEs at Grade C r above or a relevant Level 2 qualification.
Your practical work in the kitchen will be assessed by observation, giving credit for the skills you already have or you have gained in College. The theory aspects will be tested by an examination at the end of each topic. It may be that a work based assessor will visit you at your place of work to observe and assess you.
After completing the course you could progress on to study a Higher National Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality Management or you could work in the Hospitality and Catering industry.
