Plumbing & Heating Level 3 Diploma at Havering College of Further and Higher Education

Course description

This course is suitable if you wish to continue your plumbing training to the recognised industry standard qualification.

The course provides you with the required practical and theoretical tuition. There are a number of practical tasks that you will need to carry out during the year. This is combined with a high level of underpinning knowledge in workshop/site safety and plumbing technology. It is approximately 50/50 theory/practical.

Course content

You will study the following subjects:

Complex Cold Water Systems; Complex Hot Water Systems; Unvented Hot Water Systems; Central Heating; Complex Sanitation; Gas 1; Gas 2; System planning; Improving Business.

Entry requirements

You must be in possession of a Level 2 qualification in Basic Plumbing.


You will be assessed to test your knowledge and practical skills in the form of online multiple choice examinations (8 over the year) and 8 practical assessments.

Future opportunities

You could now access an NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing which is delivered in the workplace. This could also include other relevant gas qualifications.
