Fabrication And Welding Level 1 Certificate at North Lindsey College
The course provides a mixture of practical work in the College's fabrication workshop together with associated classroom work to provide the theoretical knowledge needed to back up the practical element of the course. Throughout the course you will learn the basics of fabrication and welding as a lead to a possible apprenticeship or employment.
Applicants complete Level 1 Performing Engineering Operations and Level 1 City and
Guilds Certificate in Engineering including:
- Mandatory Units:
- Working Safely
- Working Effectively and Efficiently
- Engineering Communication
- Practical Units:
- MMA Welding
- Oxy-fuel Gas Cutting
- MIG Welding
- Areas of study will include:
- Hand Tools
- Welding Using Various Processes (e.g. Manual Metal Arc, MIG)
- Using Oxy-fuel Gas Cutting Equipment
- Health and Safety
- Establish Effective Working Relationships
- AppropriateSupporting Knowledge Programme
To be eligible for this course applicants should have 3 GCSEs at Grade D, including Maths, English and Science (IT may be considered). Applications are also welcomed from mature learners whose past experience will be taken into consideration.
Learners' progress is measured by continual assessment with assignments being set to cover each mandatory and practical unit. There will also be assessed practical tasks to complete in the fabrication workshop.
Upon successful completion of this course learners can progress onto the Level 2 PEO Fabrication and Welding course. This course forms the basic requirement for an apprenticeship.
