Course description

On this course you will learn about working with adults and children in care settings. Units you will study include personal care and health and social care, creative activities for children, learning experiences for children and young people, communication with adults and children in health and social care, as well as promoting healthy eating in care. The course also covers functional skills in maths, functional skills in communication, functional skills in ICT and personal and social development.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at Grade E to G including English at grade E. A clear DBS check is required before starting the course, plus satisfactory references and interview.

Other units on the Foundation Learning Tier. BTEC First Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care. Employment in a Health and Social Care setting or a course in another area of the College.

Please note that students for this course will need to have a DBS check carried out before the course begins. It takes several weeks to obtain the DBS check, so it is important that if you are interested in this course you apply as early as possible.

It is on major bus routes and is less than a 15 minute walk from the mainline railway station in Crewe. Junctions 16 and 17 of the M6 motorway are both only a 15 minute drive away and Manchester International airport is just 45 minutes away by rail or road.
