Course description

This is a one-year work-related course where you learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

The course is ideal for anyone who is interested in a career in sport. You are also required to practically demonstrate sporting techniques in a range of sports as well as undertake a fitness training programme.

You will be expected to complete a work placement within the sports industry, which could potentially lead to further employment opportunities.

Course content

You will examine a number of areas, including:

  • Participating in Sport
  • Anatomy and Physiology for exercise
  • Introduction to healthy exercise and nutrition
  • Sports coaching
  • Work experience in the Sports Industry
  • Psychology for Sports performance
  • Development of personal fitness through training

There will also be opportunities to gain additional qualifications. You will also have access to the college’s Sport Academies.

Please note: If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or Maths you will be required to continue studying these alongside your college course.

Entry requirements

Standard Level 2 entry requirements apply.



Future opportunities

On successful completion, you will be given the opportunity to progress on to higher level courses such as the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport or Sport & Exercise Sciences in preparation for careers in sports centres, leisure centres, outdoor activity centres or other sectors of the Service industry.
