Technical Theatre BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at West Cheshire College

Course description

This fascinating course covers all aspects of technical theatre and backstage work including lighting, moving lighting, sound, stage management, live events planning, electrics, crewing and maintenance. You’ll be working with some of the latest industry equipment and practitioners whilst gaining knowledge and practical experience. In order to develop your skills you’ll work as Technical Crew on a variety of productions and events, supporting theatre productions, music gigs, conferences, awards ceremonies, photo shoots and fashion shows. As well as working on in-house shows you’ll also be given opportunities to work with industry specialists on work experience projects. Previous students have worked with The Floral Pavilion Theatre, Pacific Road Theatre, ABER Lighting, MJD Productions and The Chameleon Theatre.

Course content

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade C, GCSE Maths and English preferred, or above or successful completion of a Level 2 programme including English and maths.

Assessment

You will be continually assessed throughout the programme.
