Interactive Media & Gaming
You will:
• Learn how to use a variety
of game engines
• Learn how to use appropriate
scripting languages
• Apply copyright law requirements
• Learn how to write game logic
• Engage cross-platform development
• Learn how to use 3D software
• Test and refine models
• Make virtual and physical models
and puppets
• Use online games stores
• Experience the workflow
of a games studio
• Create 2D and 3D assets
for gaming content
• Work directly in software
development teams
• Prepare content and programming
for tablet and mobile applications

Course content

Our Key Stage 5 curriculum is
designed for ambitious creative
thinkers.
The curriculum is divided into
two parts:
• Technical specialism qualification,
based on one of four pathways (60%)
• Complementary A levels and
vocational qualifications (40%)
Technical qualifications are assessed
through live-brief projects set by our
industry-leading employer partners.
These partners will come from the
media industry, and offer additional
technical expertise and unique
insight. You will have the opportunity
to incorporate work experience into
your studies.
You can combine A levels and BTEC
qualifications in combinations to suit
you. You will focus on your specific
skills and interests, developing them
towards a career, whether you decide
to take up a job offer at 18 or study
further at university.

    • The UTC@MediaCityUK campus opens in September 2014.

      Every aspect of the new four-floor UTC building is designed to help students be productive, acquire skills and enjoy learning. With filming studios, performance areas, a radio studio and a live lounge alongside gaming and design labs and a science cluster, the campus has been designed in every detail to support an innovative creative and digital curriculum.

      Located close to the Broadway and MediaCityUK tram stations, the college is a vital new component in the heart of the creative and digital media community where our students will spend time learning workplace skills. When full, the UTC campus will hold 720 students. Every one a talented young individual.
