Applied Science Level 3 Certificate at Aylesbury College

Course description

This is the first year of the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma. This Diploma carries UCAS points that are equivalent to A Level qualifications and contribute to overall university entrance points at most higher education institutions.

Course content

This qualification will give you the opportunity to acquire technical and employability skills, knowledge and understanding for the science industry, which are transferable to many other careers. It will also allow you to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. It is a mix of theoretical and practical units where you learn about the practices and procedures of the science industry, communication, designing and laboratory, health and safety, the body systems and many more. You will also go on trips to enrich your experience.

Entry requirements

5 A*-C grade GCSEs, including Maths and English, with a B grade in the subjects related to this A Level.

Assessment

Assessment of this course is via practical and written assignments throughout the course. You will have the opportunity to work at Pass Merit and Distinction standard.

You will require the Course Book - approximately £26 .

Future opportunities

As part of a full A level programme, you can progress to university or out into the scientific industry.

You will be able to find employment within the scientific industry.
