Construction Multiskills Level 1 at Lancaster and Morecambe College
The course is for students who are not employed in the construction industry but want to develop skills within the trade with a view to progressing onto a specific full time course – Brickwork, Carpentry and Joinery, Plumbing, Electrical Installation or Apprenticeships
You will study the following:
• Safe Working • Basic Rendering Skills • Basic Bricklaying Skills and Blockwork Skills • Basic Carpentry and Joinery • Basic Guttering Skills • Basic Levelling Skills All LMC students will receive tutorial support. All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade A*-C in these subjects. If you have a grade D at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths & English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment
4 GCSEs at grade D-G preferably including English or maths. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager
This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including assignments, practical performance and course work.
Students will be expected to pay £30.00 prior to the start of the course. This includes personal protective equipment and stationery which will be required for the course.
The course can lead onto Level 1 or Level 2 Carpentry and Joinery, Level 1 or Level 2 Brickwork, Level 1 or Level 2 Plumbing or Level 1 or Level 2 Electrical Installations.
Most of the classwork will be completed in class.
On completion of this course you will receive Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Basic Construction Skills.
