GCSE: Further Additional Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) at Stephenson Studio School
GCSE Double Science (worth two GCSE’S) Science is made up of Biology, Chemistry and Physics and is studied as two separate GCSEs. Science A is examined in year 10 and additional science is examined in year 11. 25 % of the marks are awarded for a controlled assessment which is carried out and examined in subject specific learning time. This includes a written test on a practical investigation. There are a number of topics where current issues in science are reviewed and discussed e.g. the energy debate, global warming and healthy diet. Those students that show a particular flare for science can study a third GCSE in science called further additional science, this is taken in year 11 alongside the additional award.
