Physical Education AS level at The Mandeville School
The course develops understanding of the wider aspects of Physical Education, how the body is affected by physical activities and also the place of sport within society as well as developing skills of self-assessment and development of student’s own skill level.
Topics: Anatomy and Physiology, Acquisition of Skill, Contemporary Studies in Physical Education.
It is expected that students wishing to study A Level PE will have gained at least Grade B at GCSE PE, however the course is available to students who have not studied GCSE PE. It would also be extremely beneficial to students if they have achieved at least Grade C in Science subjects at GCSE, especially Biology.
1 written exam paper and 1 coursework unit.
Physical Education students have a wide range of opportunities open to them in areas such as education, sports science, physiotherapy, the leisure industry, coaching, the armed forces, and emergency services.
Students can continue to study Physical Education and Sports Science into Higher Education or move directly into employment in a number of sectors.
