Leisure Studies AS A2 at Elizabeth Woodville School

Course description

'Leisure and Recreation isn't just about sport. You have lots of opportunities to work more freely than before.' If you like the idea of following a career in one of the most exciting and fastest growing industries in the UK at the moment, this course is for you.

Course content

You will look at the leisure and recreation industry as a whole and study such topics as the development of leisure and recreation, marketing, safe practices, the sports industry, customer service and running sports coaching sessions.  You will develop a range of practical skills as well as learning a range of business concepts and practices.

Entry requirements

It is advisable that students wishing to enter an Advanced Level course should be aiming to achieve at least a B grade in that subject at GCSE level.  For non GCSE subjects such as Psychology and Sociology a grade C in English is a requirement.  It is advised that students sitting the Advanced courses in Maths and Science should have sat the Higher GCSE papers, achieving an A/B grade.

Assessment

The course comprises six units which are assessed by examination and portfolio evidence.

Career pathsThis course combines well with business studies, economics or sociology, psychology or any science subject and can lead to further or higher education or to employment particularly in the leisure industry.
