A2 Film Studies at John Colet School
This exciting and demanding course offers students the opportunity to study a wide range of films, many of their own choosing. Through doing so, students will gain an appreciation of how films are constructed to generate response and meaning for the viewer, as well as an understanding of the Film Industry and the wider context in which films are produced. Students are assessed on their ability to analyse film texts, carry out independent research and create their own film products such as storyboards and screenplays.
Film Research and Creative Projects (completed by May of Year 13)
- A small scale research project, providing students with the opportunity to explore an area of film in which they have particular interest;
- A creative project based on a film sequence (screenplay, film extract or extended step outline).
Students must achieve a grade A* to C at GCSE English Language and/or English Literature.
