Dance (BTEC Certificate) at New College Nottingham

Course description

If you have a passion for dance and enjoy expressing yourself through music, this could be the course for you. 

You’ll be choreographing routines, taking inspiration from different genres, eras and styles, working on your own and collaboratively with your fellow students. 

You’ll have plenty of opportunity to perform, so you’ll gain experience in front of an audience as well as technical skill. 

Course content

This course is perfect if you want to develop your love of dance in a professional dance studio environment and learn from industry professionals. You’ll be using the excellent dance facilities at ncn Clarendon including sprung floor dance studios and dedicated theatre spaces.

We have strong links with Nottingham Playhouse, Nottingham Arts Theatre, the Lace Market Theatre and Nottingham Theatre Royal.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 5 GCSES A*-C including English, plus an interest in dance.

Assessment

You’ll undertake a combination of examinations, and written and practical coursework, including essays, performances, and/or classroom-based assessments. 

Future opportunities

You could progress to a related higher education course such as dance, performance or teaching. You could be working towards a career as a professional dancer, dance teacher, or dance movement psychotherapist.
